Autumnal Days

So autumn is now upon us.

I love the colours autumn brings, running through yellow leaves and orange trees. I haven't ran for a while but I have been doing a different kind of training.
Training of the mind. Back to college and what a shock to the system that has been. But thats a different story.

Autumn makes me want to run, slip on the shoes, strap up the pac and run. I like to feel that burn in your chest from the cold air. But I seem to have lost my rhythm of late. Well until i got this little kick up the backside...

I read a blog recently from someone I admire, a running coach (and Mum and Wife) but a coach that sometimes writes in a way that is easier to read and understand. Her name is Ashley Walsh. I have linked her blog below, where you can find pretty much whatever you might want to know. Anyway the post was titled  9 Ultrarunning Norms You Can Break (http://ashruns100s.com/2014/09/18/9-ultra-running-norms-you-can-break/).
Ok so I'm no ultra-runner, but are the 9 norms soley specific to ultra-running, No! Far from it. Ashley talks about the day to day conundrums we have all thought about at some point and well, she doesn't hold back. In fact to sum it up, she gives a day one, fresh off the couch with ya shiney new nikes, with dreams to be running shoulder to shoulder with Kilian, or running round Boulder with Anton, knock to your head with a basic Running 101!!! And i quote;

"See how running feels in the raw, without all of the pressure and details of goals and schedules. Ditch your watch, and just get out to enjoy a nice day. Don’t worry about how far you’re going or how fast. Just be present in the moment. Take in what it feels like to be alive, and let that be enough for you. Just run…. You might like it.:)"

I'm just as guilty as the next person of dreaming big, I sometimes set unrealistic goals and don't get me wrong the post isn't telling you can't run with the best of them, it's not someone sitting you down and telling you, you simply cant do it. It's quite the opposite, and she does it well.

So click the link above and have a read for yourself. And if you still want to hear more, you can go to trailrunnernation.com where Ashley herself talks about why she wrote it and why she wanted to share. It's a good listen.

Anyway...it inspired me a little, and I hope maybe it inspires you.
